BioCNG Technology
Providing reliable and environmentally preferable operations
The BioCNG™ system uses a patented biogas conditioning system to economically produce biogas-based fuel to power CNG vehicles.
BioCNG™ targets smaller-scale biogas-to-CNG alternative vehicle fuel projects. The economics of past small scale systems had often proved unfavorable, primarily because of the large capital and operating expense associated with cleaning and conditioning the biogas. BioCNG™, with its simple modular design, has been able to address these issues and produce a low cost renewable natural gas vehicle fuel.
BioCNG, LLC offers various sized units that produce up to 1,000 gallons of gasoline equivalent (GGE) per day. Multiple units can be installed for larger projects and higher production rates.
Although relatively new as a system, all BioCNG™ equipment components have long operating experience and are proven and reliable technologies. Operating BioCNG™ systems have performed well, with minimal maintenance issues or downtime.
Reducing emissions
In addition to offering low cost fuel, according to the United States Department of Energy (DOE) properly maintained natural gas powered vehicles can significantly reduce tailpipe emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx), non-methane hydrocarbons (NMHC), carbon monoxide (CO), other air toxics, particulate matter, sulfur dioxide (SO2), and global warming gases. The table shows estimates of pollution reductions provided by the BioCNG System.
Relative Pollutant Reduction Using BioCNG Fuel | ||
Pollutant | % Reduction Compared to Gasoline | % Reduction Compared to Diesel |
---|---|---|
NOx | 66% (g/mile basis) | NA |
NMHC | 85% (g/mile basis) | NA |
CO | 50% (normal driving) | NA |
Air Toxics | 85% | NA |
SO2 | 90% | 90% |
Global Warming Gases | 20% | 50% |
Particulate Matter | NA | 50-75% |
